We are recruiting Relief Catering Assistants at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 0 Hours - This role is offered on a relief/casual, zero‑hours basis, with work available as needed to support the team and cover short‑term absences.

This site operates between 07:00 and 14:30, Monday - Friday, Term Time Only. Available hours will be offered within these time frames.

We are looking to appoint relief Catering Assistants to join our experienced team in preparing food and serving pupils aged 11-16 in a busy school canteen. The role will also involve helping to maintain a clean and safe environment in accordance with the practices and procedures of the school and local authority. Previous experience is not essential as full training is provided and a Food Hygiene Certificate course will be arranged if this is not currently held.

This relief role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands‑on experience, build confidence in the service, and develop an understanding of the role within a supportive team.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Level 2 Food Safety Or ability to undertake and achieve the qualification within 3 months of appointment.
  • Ability to work precisely and effectively under pressure and to deadlines and have a strong sense of purpose.
  • Able to work at various sites throughout CCBC, to meet the needs of the service. Willingness to complete all relevant training
