Salary: Starting salary of £42,697.42 per annum which consists of a base salary of £31,736.51 plus 20% shift allowance, and £4,613.61 London Allowance.

The Opportunity:


British Transport Police have a fantastic opportunity for a CCTV Intelligence and Retrievals Officer (CIRO) to join the Control Rooms and Visual Services Department.

As a CIRO with BTP, you will play a vital role in supporting frontline investigations by proactively gathering, collating, and disseminating real-time CCTV footage.

You will be responsible for identifying key forensic opportunities to support investigative outcomes, working closely with the Force Control Room, Investigating Officers and Scenes of Crime Officers to ensure critical evidence is captured effectively.

In this role, you will also produce high-quality evidential CCTV downloads and still imagery, maintaining the highest evidential standards and ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance at all times.

What you'll be doing:

  • Proactively monitor and react to live-time incidents, reviewing cameras and pushing feeds to control rooms as required
  • Identify crime patterns and proactively monitor identified stations raising logs with the control rooms as appropriate
  • Undertake administrational duties including the recording and logging of all activity undertaken in relation to the role
  • Co-ordinate and respond to all customer service enquiries in a prompt, professional and helpful manner to drive forward the focus on customer service.

  • Problem solving technical issues related to this discipline
  • Knowledge and understanding of national guidelines around the capture and processing of CCTV and other video imagery
  • Knowledge of how criminal investigations and operations are conducted

Additional Information:

The working hours for this role can be unsocial as it involves a 24/7/365 shift pattern that include early starts, late finish times and night shifts.

The postholder may be required to travel to locations across the UK as part of operational requirements.
