Salary: £28,605 - £31,029 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Working Hours: 14.8 hours per week

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, and multi-skilled Lead Technician to join our dynamic technical team. As a central member of the theatre’s team, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional technical support across a wide and varied programme of theatre, live music, dance, comedy, community events, and conference activity.

You will liaise with visiting companies and oversee the smooth running of get-ins, rehearsals, performances, and get-outs, ensuring a high standard of technical excellence, safety, and customer service. You will work with the wider management team to manage health and safety and technical resources, including managing and co-ordinating maintenance, repairs and orders as required. This role includes management and delivery of events on the theatre's outdoor trailer stage which is hired to organisations around the area.

You will work as part of a team with theatre management, staff and volunteers, and visiting artists and hirers, to provide first-class service that is both welcoming and practical to all parties. You will manage the technical team, including work schedules and managing training needs.

You will be responsible for protecting and managing information securely, and reporting breaches or suspected information security breaches, in line with Council policies.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced performing arts environment and enjoys leading others to achieve outstanding results.

The nature of the work will involve the post holder carrying out work outside of normal working hours. This includes evening and weekend work.

An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have GCSEs in English and Maths
  • Have experience with running theatre sound and lighting systems for a variety of live events
  • Have experience of doing full set ups including rigging and cabling
  • Have knowledge and experience with projection, preferably cinematic
  • Be pro-active with a positive approach to management and interaction with customers
  • Be a strong communicator, team player and adept at planning and troubleshooting
  • Have an ongoing commitment to professional development and training
