Civil Enforcement Officer

12-month fixed term contract - 15 hours per week with Bank Holiday working on a rota basis. 3 shifts 1pm to 6pm Monday to Friday

£11,593.78 - £12,576.49 per annum (FTE £28,598 to £31,022 - pay award pending)

Wychavon District Council operates a range of parking services on behalf of Bromsgrove District Council

Duties of a Civil Enforcement Officer:

  • Issuing penalty charge notices to vehicles parked in contravention of the Traffic Regulation Orders for On-Street locations and in Off-Street car parks in the Bromsgrove district.
  • Work is completed mainly on foot and will involve moving between sites.
  • Patrolling the local areas to maintain good traffic flow.
  • Undertake ticket machine checks and assist people in the community to use our facilities.
  • Make a difference to the way people can use and access parking spaces.
  • Regularly assist customers at Bromsgrove Shopmobility

Work on a rota basis, covering the hours of 1pm to 6pm for 3 days between Monday to Friday.

About you

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a good standard of education with qualifications in English and Mathematics.
  • Be highly motivated with good interpersonal skills and be able to handle sensitive (and sometimes confrontational) situations confidently and calmly in a professional manner.
  • Have good communication skills and an ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Be able to travel and patrol around the Bromsgrove district including the outlying villages is essential, and you will need to have access to and use of a vehicle to carry out these patrols (business use insurance for your vehicle will be required).
  • Be working outside alone in all weathers and walking for long periods, up to 5 hours per shift.
  • Be able to undertake other duties as required and provide support to other local areas when needed.
  • Have experience in a similar role or in customer service, retail and hospitality.
