At Brighton & Hove City Council we are making great progress on developing our Health, Safety and Wellbeing approaches, through our team of committed practitioners.

We are looking to recruit a Compliance Manager, to join a busy team of enthusiastic people to help ensure the quality and consistency of Building and Fire Safety arrangements and performance across the council.

Are you an effective communicator, able to work effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people? Do you have great attention to detail and have a pragmatic balanced approach to managing your workload? Are you able to build and maintain strong and productive relationships with stakeholders across the Council including educational establishments?

About the role

The Compliance Manager role sits in the Building & Fire Safety Team; one of the Services of the Health Safety & Wellbeing Facilities & Building Services service area. Building Services is responsible for the ongoing repair, maintenance and statutory compliance of our stock of properties within the City of Brighton & Hove. We have a diverse portfolio with properties ranging from the Victorian era to new build properties.

Due to the stock profile and age, alongside increasing regulation and new legalisation, it will be vital that you are able to drive efficiency in how our compliance activities are undertaken whilst ensuring that building user safety remains the number one priority.

As Compliance Manager you will be responsible for the Compliance area of the service. We pride ourselves on our cross working with other Directorates and Teams and you will need to develop effective relationships with key corporate stakeholders within the Council.

The role needs someone with exceptional self-motivation and organisation skills, who is comfortable working in a complex environment, is an influential communicator and has a proven track-record of delivering competent, compliance advice.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
