Overview

St. Michael’s Fellowship is inviting applications for the new role of Consultant Practitioner(Outreach). This post represents an important step in strengthening our professional leadership and embedding excellence across the Outreach service.

The Consultant Practitioner will act as the senior practice expert within Outreach, driving quality, modelling outstanding direct work and supporting practitioners to deliver the highest standards of family support. This is a practice leadership role, not a line management position, and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on how we deliver our work with families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold a small caseload, modelling best practice with families with complex needs.
  • Lead group reflective supervision to build resilience, reflection, and shared learning among practitioners.
  • Provide consultation and advice on complex or sensitive cases.
  • Contribute to allocation discussions to ensure thoughtful case matching.
  • Support safeguarding, evaluation, and service development initiatives.
  • Champion anti-racist, strengths-based and trauma-informed practice across the Outreach Service.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has substantial experience in outreach or family support work, ideally in complex or high-risk contexts.
  • Demonstrates excellent safeguarding knowledge and confidence in managing risk.
  • Is recognised for high-quality, reflective and values-driven practice.
  • Has strong facilitation skills and enjoys leading reflective spaces.
  • Is committed to anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and evidence-informed practice.
  • Has the ability to influence others and contribute to service-wide improvement.

A qualification in social work, psychology, education, or a related field is desirable, but we welcome applications from those with equivalent professional experience and practice depth.
