Job description
As aContent Designer, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary agile team with other digital and technical experts to deliver one or more digital services. You’ll be responsible for designing content for HM Land Registry services and contributing to our blog. You’ll advocate for users to make sure we provide content that meets their needs.
As a content designer, you will:
- Create, update and review content at all stages of the end-to-end user journey
- Be comfortable using evidence, data and research to make content decisions
- Build relationships across HM Land Registry to focus on the needs of the user and to influence stakeholders
- Contribute to and use the agreed style guides and design patterns, making sure appropriate content is shown to the user in the right place and in the best format
- Start from discovery and work closely with user researchers, service designers and interaction designers
You will be a confident and competent designer who can develop designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes.
Person specification
To be successful in this role, you will have the following Technical Skills and Qualifications:
- Creating clear, consistent content for public services
- Creating usable, responsive and accessible user interfaces
You will also have the following experience:
- A strong grounding and experience in user-centred content design, from concept to final delivery
- Knowledge of what good end-to-end public services look like and the importance of designing content in an inclusive, accessible way.
- Understanding user needs, participating in research activities and using research to inform the design
- Delivering content audits, plans, recommendations, solutions and quality assurance activity
- Evaluating content performance and using it to create actionable insight
- Analysing qualitative and quantitative user research to get evidence for your designs
- Identifying constraints and communicating these effectively to others in your team
Due to the nature of the role regular travel to other HM Land Registry offices may be required, including some overnight stays.
Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable, however this will not be assessed during the process.
Under HM Land Registry’s hybrid approach to working you will be expected to spend at least 60% of your working time in your contracted home office. You must live within a commutable distance of your chosen office.
