Job description
The GOV.UK Content Operations team supports nearly 3,000 civil servants (publishers and content designers) in GDS and across government to create, publish and manage high quality, user-centred content on GOV.UK.
We're a small team based within the GOV.UK directorate in GDS's Product Group.
We do this through:
• Our content and publishing guidance and standards for cross- government and internal guidance for GDS content designers
• Training for publishers and inductions for new GDS content designers
• Supporting government publishers with requests and queries on how to publish content on GOV.UK
• Managing policies, tools, processes and workflows for publishing content on GOV.UK
• Leading GOV.UK's plans and response for special events, including elections and government reshuffles
We work closely with other parts of the GOV.UK directorate to improve the experience for GOV.UK publishers.
Person specification
As a Content Operations Assistant, you'll work with the Content Operations Coordinator and the wider GOV.UK Content Operations team to deliver the team's operations and training functions for GDS content designers and publishers across government.
You'll be someone who is great with people, both in writing and in person. You'll also be someone who wants to work in a fast-paced, agile, iterative way with a focus for detail.
As a Content Operations Assistant you'll:
• Respond to queries from government publishers and members of the public - including supporting publishers with queries and requests and queries from members of the public about GOV.UK content.
• Create and manage queries about publishing accounts for GOV.UK publishers.
• Administer the running of training and events such as scheduling, managing bookings, arranging venues and supporting attendees and Content Operations team members.
• Run communications and engagement channels, groups and contact lists for cross-government publishers with the Content Operations Coordinator.
• Contribute to tools and resources used by the team and the GDS GOV.UK content community.
Essential criteria
We're interested in people who have:
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills with close attention to detail.
• Experience of communicating effectively both in writing and in person.
• Demonstrable experience of balancing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in event management and/or education or learning.
• Experience working in a customer facing role and/or experience with communities or membership groups.
Desirable criteria
• Experience of working in an agile and/or digital environment.
• Interest to learn more about content design, community development, learning experiences, event management or government digital.

Office attendance
