We have a brilliant opportunity available for an experienced Contracts Officer to join our proactive team in Adult Services at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full time, permanent basis.

In your role as the Contracts Officer, you will assist the Senior Contract Manager in implementing the principles outlined in our Contract Management Framework.

You will carry out the essential responsibilities necessary to uphold efficient and successful contract management procedures, offering prompt and effective assistance to both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • To undertake the core administrative activities for contract management including overseeing provider due diligence checks, managing communication with providers when notifying of changes to contracts, managing requests and coordinating arrangements required in relation to new contracts and changes to existing contracts.
  • To support the Senior Contract Manager- Adults in the delivery of the Contract Management Framework for Adult Social Care.
  • Track expiring contracts and coordinate the actions required, liaising with the assigned contract lead, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and Commissioners.
  • Act as Contract Lead for contracts under the responsibility of Strategy, Commissioning and Performance with an annual value of c.£20,000 or less, undertaking day-to-day contract management and supplier relationship management activities throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • To manage customer issues effectively, providing excellent customer care and delivering improved outcomes for customers, including internal colleagues and external which will mainly be commissioned providers.
  • Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibility and scale of the post.

Candidate Requirements

  • Contract management experience is essential
  • standard of education, including excellent literacy and numeracy skills – GCSE Maths and English.
  • Must be able to communicate through emails, letters and phone calls with high level professionalism and literacy as well as outstanding level of functional mathematics
  • Ability to extract and assess important information.
  • Experience in stipulating contractual clauses and generating reports and information documents. This requires great attention to details
  • Experience in Contract management and delivery
  • Good level of knowledge around relevant legislation such as Care Act 2014, Procurement Act 2023.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude, high level of professionalism and good work ethics.
  • Must have an outstanding level of communication and taking initiative towards connecting with providers for better networking, relationship and contract delivery.
