Job Introduction

We are seeking two Coroners Court Officers.


Are you a compassionate and composed individual dedicated to providing exceptional service to people during emotionally challenging times? If so, consider joining our team of committed officers who work collaboratively to offer support to bereaved families across Greater Lincolnshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests from the Coroner: Support the delivery of inquests by fulfilling specific requests, such as preparing documents or facilitating proceedings.
  • Read statements and provide copies of evidence; ensure that all necessary materials are available for the smooth functioning of court sessions.
  • Manage attendees' emotional responses; handle scenarios such as comforting a distressed family member, coordinating with legal representatives, or de-escalating tense situations.
  • Prepare the courtroom:; complete all required administrative tasks and ensure the courtroom is ready before attendees are allowed access.
  • Oversee the jury: Guide jurors throughout the hearing and ensure they understand their responsibilities and obligations.

A Smarter Working Employer

We have embraced new ways of working and hybrid working will be a feature of this role. You will be given a nominated contractual work base and you will be required to commute to this work base when necessary. Working arrangements regarding hybrid working will be discussed as part of the appointment process.

Our technology platform and equipment is very good enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We require that you have in place good connectivity, and we will discuss during the recruitment process if support with this is needed.

Fluency Duty

Salary range

  • £25,989 - £27,254 per year
