An opportunity has arisen to join our Ranger team. This is a superb opportunity for an individual with enthusiasm, practical skills and experience in conservation and green space management to join the team responsible for co-ordinating and implementing the management and maintenance of countryside sites, rights of way and nature reserves.

About you…

You are passionate about the natural environment and bring hands-on experience in conservation and green space management. Whether working independently or as part of a team, you are committed to making outdoor spaces better for both people and wildlife.

You are also someone who values community involvement and understands its importance in the success of long-term environmental projects.

About the team…

Bracknell Forest Council’s Parks & Countryside Service manages over 300 hectares of diverse green spaces, from wildflower meadows and ancient woodlands to children’s play areas and sports pitches.

We are a dedicated team focused on maintaining and improving these spaces to benefit both nature and the community. Our commitment to high-quality green infrastructure is reflected in the restoration of two of our historic parks, made possible by funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund.

At the heart of our work is a belief in the power of community engagement and sustainable land management.

Key responsibilities…

  • Manage sites within the Borough for the benefit of people and wildlife
  • Support the production of SANG improvement plans / quality improvement plans and delivery of associated site works
  • Develop, implement and review management plans and work programmes; ensuring sites are well maintained in accordance with good practice for recreation, landscape and biodiversity
  • Provide opportunities for community involvement, including promoting and supervising participation by residents, volunteers and local groups. Ensure close links to ’Take Pride’ and other relevant local and national volunteering initiatives
  • Encourage and support outdoor recreation and countryside access. Provide information and organise events to increase participation, enjoyment and understanding

The post includes working weekends, bank holidays and evening work in accordance with the requirements of the service.
