We are recruiting a Countryside Ranger at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Parc Penallta

Team: Green Spaces and Transport Services


This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £31,537 - £34,434 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

This exciting post offers the right person the opportunity to shape the future of countryside facilities as they will be involved in the management and development of sites for the benefit of visitors and wildlife.

The successful applicant will need to have experience of working in an environmental background, a deep understanding of green space management, show a committed passion to the environment and be able to adopt a motivated, committed, and flexible approach to work.

The postholder will identify, plan and undertake practical work to ensure the efficient day to day management of Country Parks and other land managed by the Council.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Relevant Level 3 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example Countryside Management.
  • A National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC) qualifications in appropriate practical skills.
  • Experience of working with volunteers and the community in respect of country parks or sites with public access.
  • A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings.
