This is an exciting time to join Cumberland Council's Digital and Innovation team as we continue to transform services, improve customer experiences and explore how emerging technologies can help us deliver better outcomes for residents, businesses and communities.
We are looking for enthusiastic and talented people to join a growing multidisciplinary team that brings together service design, content design, low-code development, intelligent automation, web development and customer experience. Our team works across the Council to redesign services, improve processes, build digital products, automate processes and introduce new capabilities including artificial intelligence.
Our roles are highly collaborative; we love working with other councils and across our departments. We don't just design services, we build them. Using platforms such as LocalGov Drupal, Blue Prism, Netcall Liberty Create and Liberty CX, our teams develop digital services, user journeys, workflows, case management solutions and automated processes that deliver real improvements for users and staff.
We are particularly interested in attracting people who are curious about how technology, automation and AI can be used responsibly to improve public services. The Digital and Innovation team supports major transformation programmes across Cumberland Council and works collaboratively with partners across local government to develop and share innovative approaches to digital service delivery.
Senior Digital Service Design Officer
Salary: £53,051 to £54,143 per annum
Lead the design, development and delivery of user-centred digital services that improve outcomes for residents and colleagues. Working across complex transformation programs, you will combine service design, user research, process improvement and product knowledge of our platforms such as Netcall Liberty Create and Liberty CX. You will help shape the Council's approach to digital transformation, intelligent automation and AI-enabled services whilst providing leadership and coaching across multidisciplinary teams.
Digital Service Design Officer (x2)
Salary: £48,738 to £49,818 per annum
You will work directly with services to understand user needs, redesign customer journeys and improve operational processes whilst also building digital solutions using Netcall Liberty Create and Liberty CX. The role combines user-centred design, business analysis, low-code development and service transformation, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy turning ideas into working digital services and exploring how automation and AI can improve public services.
Senior Website Content Design Officer
£37,562 to £38,510 per annum
Create clear, accessible and user-centred content that helps everyone complete tasks and access services online. Working across our intranet, subsites and websites, you will use evidence, user needs and service data to improve content and customer experience while supporting the Council's wider digital transformation and accessibility ambitions.
Intelligent Automation Officer
£39,481 to £40,444 per annum
Design, build and support intelligent automation solutions that improve efficiency, remove manual effort and enhance service delivery. Working with automation technologies, AI tools, low-code platforms and business stakeholders, you will identify opportunities for innovation, develop automated processes and help shape the future use of automation and artificial intelligence across Cumberland Council.
Web Development Assistant
£29,541 to £30,515 per annum
Support the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Council's websites and digital platforms. Working alongside content designers, service designers and developers, you will help create accessible, user-focused digital experiences, support publishing activities and contribute to the delivery of high-quality online services.
Hours and Location
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Flexible and hybrid working. Team bases include Carlisle Civic Centre, Cumbria House and other Council locations across Cumberland.
Contract: Fixed-Term (12 Months)
