Introduction

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Data Analyst to join our award-winning corporate Data Science, Insight & Performance Team and help us solve some of the most pressing and complex challenges faced by local government.

You will work on a wide range of analytical and strategic projects to support diverse business needs and Council's transformation programme, drive service improvements, and deliver positive outcomes for residents we serve.

Your analytical solutions and insight will support forward planning by evaluating evidence, identifying trends and risks and guiding transformation initiatives and targeted interventions across vital services.

What’s the role?

Lead analytical and insight projects to inform evidence-based decision making across the organisation and deliver positive outcomes for residents we serve.

Translate complex business challenges into practical analytical solutions, and actionable insights. Manage projects ensuring quality, strategic business alignment and strong stakeholder engagement.

Design and deliver analytical insights that are robust, transparent, and compliant with GDPR and DPIAs, embedding trusted and responsible principles into operational systems and decision-making processes.

Effectively communicate complex analysis through clear, actionable insights, dashboards and visualisations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.

This role is temporary for 6 months. Part-time of 21 hours per week, 3 days a week.

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive hands-on experience analysing complex datasets and delivering analytical insights and reports to support diverse business needs and challenges.
  • Experience applying statistical and advanced analytical techniques such as regressions, factor analysis, significance testing, correlation analysis, hypothesis testing, clustering and forecasting.
  • Demonstrable experience using Python and R libraries (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn, dplyr, tidyr, ggplot2) to deliver analysis, insight and visualisations.
  • A natural problem solver with an inquisitive mind who is highly organised, proactive, methodical, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Extensive experience using data visualisation tools to design and deliver reports, dashboards and interactive visualisations (e.g. Power BI, R Markdown, Quarto).
  • Excellent communication skills and being able to communicate complex issues simply and in a way that is tailored for different audience.

Location

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Special conditions

  • Demonstrable proficiency in Python or R, with experience applying these skills to complex analytical challenges (lead essential criteria).
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics or numerate discipline or demonstrable relevant career experience as a professional data analyst.

Salary

£52,269-£54,360 per annum, pro-rata (P04)

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
