Job summary

The SIA is the organisation responsible for the regulation of private security. It is an independent, arm’s length body (ALB) of the Home Office, reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA’s purpose is protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector. Its regulatory remit covers the whole of the United Kingdom.

The SIA has two main duties: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry and the management of a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed criteria.

SIA licensing covers security operatives who are in guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV, vehicle immobilisation (in Northern Ireland) and key holding. Licensing ensures that private security operatives are fit and proper persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job.

Job description

Join an organisation where data doesn’t just sit in dashboards — it drives real decisions, shapes public services, and helps protect the public. We’re looking for a talented Data Analyst to turn complex information into clear insight, helping senior leaders make smarter, faster, evidence-based decisions across the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, spotting trends, and using data to create meaningful change. You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders across operational and executive teams, transforming raw data into compelling reports, forecasts, and performance insights that influence strategy and day-to-day delivery. From measuring service performance and resource levels to identifying root causes and forecasting demand, your work will have visible impact from day one.

You’ll be joining a forward-thinking Corporate Information team where your ideas will be valued. We’re looking for someone who can challenge existing processes, improve reporting methods, and help modernise how data is used across the organisation. If you enjoy asking “why?”, finding smarter ways of working, and turning numbers into stories people understand, this role offers the platform to do exactly that.

You’ll use tools such as Power BI, SSRS, SQL, and Microsoft technologies to build dynamic dashboards, insightful reports, and robust analysis. Just as importantly, you’ll collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues, translating complex findings into practical recommendations that drive action.

Based in London or Manchester, this hybrid role offers flexibility, with regular in-person collaboration and the chance to work alongside experienced professionals in a supportive environment. You’ll have opportunities to develop your expertise, build influential relationships, and grow your career in a role where curiosity and initiative are genuinely rewarded.

If you’re an analytical thinker with strong SQL and reporting skills, a passion for continuous improvement, and the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels, this is your chance to make a real difference. Bring your insight, energy, and ambition — and help shape the future through data.

  • Ability to write complex select queries including use of aggregation, sub queries and features such as union.
  • Able to use logical and creative thinking skills to respond to problems in databases as they occur and consider workarounds.
  • Experience of providing a high standard of customer service whilst delivering organisational objectives.
  • Experience of gathering evidence, analysing information objectively and making decisions and recommendations to managers.
  • Demonstrable ability to quickly develop close working relationships with colleagues and use these relationships to obtain relevant information.
