Job description

Ready to make an impact? Join us as a Decision Maker at CICA

Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority are an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). At CICA we help victims of violent crime take steps toward rebuilding their lives by processing and administering applications for compensation. While money can’t redress what victims have experienced, the support we provide is an important part of delivering justice.

We’re a dedicated team based in Glasgow city centre working together to provide the best possible service for our applicants. If you want a role where your decisions have real impact, this could be the opportunity for you.

The role

As a Decision Maker, you’ll assess claims under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme 2012, ensuring fairness, accuracy, and compassion in every decision. You’ll prepare clear, empathetic correspondence and work closely with colleagues to deliver timely outcomes.

This is challenging but rewarding work. Your role will include reviewing sensitive material, including accounts of serious harm, so resilience and professionalism are key. We’ll support you with training and wellbeing resources, and you’ll be part of a supportive team.

Essential criteria

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Compassionate, empathetic approach balanced with professionalism.
  • Confidence working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Why join us?

  • Hybrid working model (around 50% office-based at 10 Clyde Place, Glasgow).
  • A role that makes a genuine difference to people’s lives.
  • Supportive, collaborative environment with wellbeing at its heart.
  • Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%

Apply now and help us deliver justice for victims of violent crime.
