Role Purpose

The Deputy Director of Corporate Services Strategy plays a pivotal leadership role at the heart of Ofgem, ensuring the effective functioning of the Chief Operating Officer’s Office and driving integration, alignment and delivery across Corporate Services (People Function, Finance, Planning and Performance, Digital, Data and Security Services & Change) and the wider organisation. As the Chief Operating Officer’s (COO) principal strategic partner, the post holder provides high-quality judgement, counsel and challenge, working across Ofgem to drive forward priority projects, and helping make sure Corporate Services is the outstanding foundation that drives excellent performance across the organisation. The role orchestrates organisational priorities, pays a pivotal role in transformation and change, strengthens executive decision-making, leads the COO Office and ensures coherence across corporate functions, major programmes, planning cycles and governance.

The role acts as a senior enterprise leader, representing the COO in high‑level internal and external forums, influencing strategic conversations, shaping organisational performance and ensuring that Ofgem delivers effectively against its statutory duties and regulatory responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic support to the COO, informing organisational priorities and decision-making
  • Deliver priority programmes across Corporate Services and the wider organisation, ensuring clear outcomes
  • Contribute to transformation, change and continuous improvement activity across Ofgem
  • Coordinate organisational priorities, track delivery, and address risks and issues as they arise
  • Ensure governance and decision-making processes are effective, consistent and timely
  • Represent the COO and Ofgem in internal and external forums
  • Manage and develop the COO Office team, ensuring effective delivery and performance.

Selection process details
