We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Deputy Director of Public Health to join our dynamic leadership team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, permanent basis.

We are seeking a talented individual to really make a difference through leading our pioneering efforts in identifying and addressing our inequalities, often hidden, across our Borough. Wokingham Borough Council has committed to becoming a Marmot borough to embed prevention, early intervention and address inequalities in all aspects of our work. This is especially important given the significant and continued growth of our Borough and the diversity of its residents. There is a clear focus on improving outcomes for our children, creating healthy environments, and good mental health and wellbeing.

As our new Deputy Director of Public Health, you will report to the Director of Public Health, whilst working closely with the Executive Director of Children's, Adults and Health. You will be a chief officer of the authority and support the Director in all aspect of public health and support the Director in business planning and system leadership. You will deputise for the Director in corporate and partnership meetings, as required. You will work closely across all the directorates in the council, maximising the opportunities of being a unitary authority.

We have strong ambitions to improving health and wellbeing outcomes and reducing health inequalities in Wokingham, as reflected in our Council Plan and our Health and Wellbeing Strategy. You will play a key role reinvigorating our approach to delivery and support the realisation of our ambitions, through strong collaboration, both within the council and the breadth of our partner agencies.

We are seeking an individual with exceptional leadership acumen, a proven track record of partnership working, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. The successful candidate will be able to operate in complex partnership settings, navigating the demands of local government, health, and broader public and community organisations.
