Job description

About the Role

SLC has an opportunity for a Developer in our Data Engineering Centre of Excellence Team, where you'll play a key role in designing, maintaining and continuously improving the data platforms and applications that underpin critical student finance services across the UK. By developing and supporting the systems that provide analytics and business intelligence capabilities, the Developer will help ensure colleagues have access to trusted data when making decisions that affect students' journeys. Reliable data platforms enable SLC to respond effectively to customer needs, improve operational performance and deliver a more seamless customer experience.

The Data Engineering Team work on outcome-based projects involving analytics, reporting and our content management system (CSM). Handling high volumes of data across four data warehouses, the team operate in an ever-changing landscape and are changing the way things are being done within SLC.

Person specification

What you Bring:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team and with other teams

  • The ability to quickly learn modern tools and embrace modern techniques

  • Ability to solve complex technical challenges

  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline

  • Experience using Oracle SQL

  • Previous Data Warehouse knowledge

  • Understand Agile methodologies and experience in working in an Agile environment
