1-year Fixed Term Contract - This opportunity is currently being offered on a fixed term contract basis of 12 months; however, if budgets allow the contract length may be extended and/or become permanent, though this is not guaranteed. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Digital & Data Support Officer at level C. You will meet the requirements of the person specification fully and can demonstrate applied knowledge, experience and skills in this role. All elements within the person specification are essential. You will be supported through induction, probation and a supportive Performance Appraisal and Career Conversation, which can include identifying and supporting the achievement of professional goals.

To ensure the integrity and quality of data used within the Planning Service. This involves meeting the information requirements necessary for effective decision-making within the Planning Service. By maintaining high data quality standards, the role supports the accuracy and reliability of planning information, which is crucial for informed decision-making processes.

The role also involves collaborating with Medway’s GIS Manager, Open Digital Planning (ODP) project team and the MHCLG Data Team to ensure that data preparation aligns with established standards and specifications.

Liaise with stakeholders in a way that promotes the One Medway Council Plan and embeds our values and behaviours.

Accountabilities and outcomes:

Collaborate with Medway’s GIS Manager, ODP project and MHCLG Data Team to ensure data preparation aligns with established standards and specifications, thereby supporting accurate and reliable planning information.

Prepare data to meet Data Standards Specifications, ensuring that data used in planning processes adheres to required quality standards.

Clean, validate, and analyse all types of data, including GIS data, to ensure accuracy and completeness. Create different types of statistical and analytical reports by finding, analysing, and explaining trends or patterns in the data, and making conclusions and recommendations from that analysis. This will include communicating the findings of data analysis to different audiences in a clear and compelling way that illustrates the data's story and achieves project objectives.

Review and update data flows to support Data Protection Impact Assessments, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and safeguarding sensitive information.

Career Progression Frameworks (CPF) have been introduced for all roles at Medway Council. These frameworks provide a mechanism for employees to take ownership of their development within their post and be rewarded accordingly. This means that the salary you will be offered will be at level A unless, based on an assessment against the CPF criteria, you demonstrate that you are meeting the criteria of level B or C. There will be further opportunity once in post to progress from level A to B, and B to C.
