The Role
We’re recruiting for a Digital Standards Operations Manager here at Justice Digital, Data and Science, to be part of our warm and collaborative Digital Compliance team.
The Digital Compliance Team supports Justice Digital, Data, Science and the wider Ministry of Justice to provide a consistent approach to Digital & Technology delivery.
The Digital compliance team is formed of 6 teams. The Digital Standards Operations Manager will be part of the Digital standards team.
The Digital Standards team is responsible for the development, maintenance and alignment of Digital, Functional and Technology Standards across Justice Digital, Data and Science. These standards underpin governance, assurance and compliance with Government Functional Standards, Technology Standards and wider Cabinet Office expectations.
As a Digital Standards Operations Manager, you will provide end-to-end operational grip across standards delivery. You will own the operational systems, controls and performance view that help standards move from drafting and consultation through assurance, approval, publication and implementation in a controlled, timely and measurable way.
This is a pivotal role in a growing function. You will help us move to a more scalable, delivery-focused operating model, enabling multiple standards to progress in parallel while maintaining quality, consistency and confidence.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Digital Standards Lead.
- Create and run a clear operating rhythm for the team, including planning cycles, prioritisation, governance cadences, assurance checkpoints and escalation routes.
- Identify operational, assurance and adoption risks early, drive mitigation and escalate where needed.
- Track each standard through drafting, consultation, assurance, approval, publication and implementation, ensuring decisions, issues, risks and changes are recorded and managed through to completion.
- Produce high-quality management information and performance reporting for senior leaders, including throughput, cycle time, bottlenecks, delivery confidence, quality and adoption signals
- Support the development and implementation of enhanced standards processes within MoJ to ensure they are fit for purpose.
- Own the operational management of the standards pipeline, maintaining forward plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, priorities and delivery health across multiple standards in flight.
- Driving continuous improvement within your own areas of responsibility.
- Taking a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring risks and issues are identified, addressed and reported and, where appropriate, escalated.
- To perform any other reasonable duties as directed by line management.

Person Specification
- Experience of operationally managing delivery across multiple complex workstreams.
- Strong planning and pipeline management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies, and deadlines.
- Experience designing or improving operational processes, controls, or assurance approaches to increase consistency, efficiency and quality.
- Experience producing management information, dashboards or performance reporting to support senior decision making.
- Experience identifying, managing and escalating risks, issues, dependencies and changes in a proportionate and delivery-focused way.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical groups.
- Ability to translate requirements into workable delivery processes, controls, and guidance.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary digital or technology teams.
Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for BPSS clearance.

Salary Information**
Base salary for this role is from £42,914 - £46,182 (National) to £49,325 - £53,081 (London).
- New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band.
- Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher.
- Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade’s pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.
