Job summary

We have a great opportunity for a Disclosure Officer to join the Information Rights Team. You will support the Disclosure Manager in ensuring HM Land Registry complies with its legal obligations under information rights legislation.

This role is a great development opportunity. We will support you to complete your Level 4 apprenticeship in Data Protection & Information Governance (if you don’t already hold a relevant qualification).

Job description

In this role you will coordinate responses to requests for recorded information, manage a personal caseload, and maintain accurate logs. You will work autonomously and communicate effectively with colleagues across HM Land Registry, including the Information Asset Owner network, to provide advice and ensure high-quality responses to Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations, and personal data rights requests within statutory deadlines.

As part of this role, if you don't already hold a qualification in Freedom of Information and/or data protection such as the British Computer Society Certificate Practitioner level (or equivalent), you will be required to obtain your Level 4 apprenticeship in Data Protection & Information Governance.

Eligibility to complete the apprenticeship:

Apprenticeships are funded by the UK Government and there are some rules which we need to consider in order to establish eligibility for this opportunity. In particular:

  • You will have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship or fit the criteria of eligible residency status in the Apprenticeship Funding Rules.
  • You do not already hold the same or similar qualifications.
  • You are not already undertaking an apprenticeship or internal development programme.

Functional Skills

If you are under the age of 19 years at the start of your apprenticeship you will be required to complete and achieve level 2 functional skills in Maths and English as part of your apprenticeship. If you are 19 years or older you will still have the option to complete functional skills and gain the level 2 qualification, but this is not a mandatory element of your apprenticeship.

Person specification

To be successful in this role you will have a qualification in Freedom of Information and/or data protection such as the British Computer Society Certificate Practitioner level (or equivalent) OR willing to complete a Level 4 Data Protection & Information Governance Apprenticeships. An understanding of information rights law (including the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation).

You will have experience in:

  • Knowledge or experience of data protection and/or Freedom of Information law
  • Evidence of managing competing priorities and meeting demanding deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience of delivering a high-quality customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information from varied sources.

Sift

Interview

If successful at shortlisting stage, you will be invited to attend a virtual, blended interview using MS Teams. The blended interview will test the essential technical criteria and Behaviours listed in the ‘Person Specification’ as well as the strengths associated with the role, details will be provided on invitation to interview.
