Salary: Starting from £37,500 per annum (London weighted salary) or £34,000 per annum (Regional salary), dependant on experience

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

Are you a Disrepair Paralegal looking for a role where you can build on your litigation experience, take ownership of your work, and develop your career within a well-established Housing Association?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in protecting L&Q's interests while helping to deliver better homes and services for our residents. Working in a fast-paced and evolving environment, you will gain valuable housing disrepair litigation experience, collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and directly contribute to the successful resolution of disrepair claims.

As a Disrepair Paralegal, you will support the management of housing disrepair claims and legal casework, ensuring matters are handled efficiently, professionally, and in line with legal and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with solicitors, surveyors, paralegals and external legal representatives to achieve positive outcomes for L&Q and its residents.

This is a 12 month FTC (maternity cover) with an increasing volume and complexity of housing disrepair claims requires dedicated legal support to effectively manage cases, mitigate risk, control costs, and ensure timely resolution. This role is essential in supporting the delivery of a high-quality legal service and helping the organisation meet its strategic objectives.

The Disrepair Paralegal reports to the Senior Solicitor and sits within the litigation customer service team. The role works closely with Housing, Property Services, Repairs, Surveying teams and external legal panel to support effective case management and dispute resolution.

Your impact in the role:

  • To assist with the management of housing disrepair claims from inception through to resolution.
  • Review, prepare and maintain legal documents, correspondence and case files.
  • Liaise with residents, solicitors, surveyors, experts and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor court deadlines and ensure compliance with procedural requirements.
  • Gather, review and analyse evidence to support the handling of claims.
  • Maintain accurate records and case management systems.
  • Support the negotiation and settlement of claims where appropriate.
  • Assist with reporting, legal spend monitoring and performance tracking.

  • Repairs and Property Services teams.

  • External solicitors, barristers and counsel.
  • Residents and their legal representatives.

How you will help achieve departmental targets and goals:

  • Support the efficient progression and resolution of disrepair claims.
  • Help minimise legal and financial risk by ensuring effective case management.
  • Contribute to reducing litigation costs and improving operational performance.
  • Foster strong collaboration between legal and operational teams.
  • Support compliance with legal obligations, policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to delivering excellent resident outcomes and protecting L&Q's reputation.

What you'll bring:

  • A law degree and paralegal experience or CILEX qualified.
  • Previous experience of managing a disrepair case load and will be able to demonstrate experience gained in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team and also with stakeholders.
  • Strong IT technical skills, including MS Office suite and Excel.
  • Able to work to deadlines and, with supervision, in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Experience in housing disrepair litigation work.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and ensure work is carried out to the highest standard in the most efficient way.
