Document Controller (Building Safety)

At Peabody, our purpose is clear: to deliver safe homes and great experiences for every resident and colleague we work with. Our values guide everything we do, being kind, doing the right thing, pulling together, loving new ideas, celebrating diversity and keeping our promises.

We’re now looking for a Document Controller to join our Asset Compliance and Building Safety team and play a vital role in ensuring our project information is accurate, accessible, and compliant. Your work will directly support our responsibilities under the Building Safety Act and the delivery of the Golden Thread of Information.

As this is an emerging area of our service, we’re looking for someone who enjoys building strong processes, working collaboratively and helping shape best practice from the outset.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and administer our SharePoint‑based document repositories.
  • Ensure accurate document uploads, metadata application, permissions management and version control.
  • Support project teams and external partners by responding promptly to document‑related queries.
  • Assist with project handover documentation, ensuring completeness and compliance.
  • Help refine and strengthen our document management systems as we bring this provision fully in‑house.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with proven experience as a Document Controller, ideally within construction, consultancy or building safety environments. You’ll be confident using Electronic Document Management Systems such as SharePoint, with a solid understanding of folder structures, workflows and accurate record keeping.

You’ll bring strong organisational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities calmly and effectively. As a confident communicator, you’ll be comfortable supporting both internal colleagues and external partners, offering clear guidance and building positive, values‑led relationships.

A good level of IT confidence, especially in Microsoft Office and Excel for tracking and reporting will be important. Just as vital is an understanding of information management principles and the Golden Thread, along with a proactive, collaborative approach that helps us establish consistent, high‑quality processes from the ground up.

Why join us?

  • You’ll help shape a new in‑house service at a formative stage.
  • You’ll contribute directly to safer homes and better resident experiences.
  • You’ll work in a supportive, values‑driven environment.
  • You’ll have access to continuous learning and professional development.

We offer:

  • 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Flexible benefits package including healthcare, dental, and lifestyle discounts.
  • 4x life assurance.
  • Ongoing training and development, including qualifications and apprenticeships.
  • Two additional paid volunteering days each year.
  • Up to 10% matched pension contribution.

What to expect from our recruitment process

We’re committed to a fair, inclusive, and transparent recruitment process.

Our selection process will include two stages:

  • Stage one 7/8 April
  • Stage two 9/10 April
