The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic Emergency Planning & Business Continuity Officer to work within the Lincolnshire County Council (LFR) Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Team.


The post holder will support the delivery of the Council’s responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act, helping to ensure effective arrangements are in place for preparedness, response, and recovery. They will play a key role in strengthening the Council’s resilience by contributing to emergency planning activities and supporting the coordination of responses to incidents and emergencies.

A key aspect of the role will be the development, maintenance, and testing of emergency plans, including statutory plans required for specific hazards such as Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) sites and Major Accident Hazards Pipelines (MAHP). The post holder will also be responsible for developing, reviewing, and exercising business continuity plans across the organisation to ensure critical services can continue during periods of disruption.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across Council departments, partner organisations, and members of the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum to promote a coordinated approach to resilience and emergency preparedness. During live incidents, they will provide professional advice and guidance to support both the Council’s and the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum’s response and recovery arrangements.

The role requires a commitment to continuous professional development. The post holder will be expected to broaden their knowledge and expertise in emergency planning and business continuity through attendance at relevant training courses, exercises, and development opportunities.

The position is based in Lincoln and will require some travel to locations across Lincolnshire.
