
End User Compute Engineer
Job summary
The End User Compute (EUC) Engineer is a critical member of the IT Operations Team, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Endpoint Manager (Intune) and the managed devices within it, including laptops, mobile phones, and Team Meeting Room Devices.
This role focuses on ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of these systems while adhering to NCSC and Microsoft Security Baseline standards for security hardening.
Responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of end-user computing environments across the organisation.
Key duties include technical troubleshooting, infrastructure optimisation, user support, and contributing to strategic decisions on system upgrades and policy compliance. Actively participates in EUC team meetings to share insights, raise technical issues, and support collaborative initiatives. The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and teamwork, with a continuous focus on enhancing user experience, system integrity, and operational efficiency.
The Crown Prosecution Service is based in England and Wales. If you’re applying for this role and live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you must let us know when accepting this offer as you need permission to work from your home address if hybrid working is part of your role. You must be aged 16 or over at the point of starting in this role. The expected start date is approximately 8–12 weeks after the application closing date. Your roles and responsibilities
- Endpoint Management: Design, implement, and maintain Endpoint Manager (Intune) configurations to ensure secure and efficient management of laptops, mobile phones, and other devices.
- Security, Compliance and Governance: Implement and enforce security policies and ensure all EUC services comply with organisational and regulatory requirements (including NCSC and Microsoft Security Baselines), maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring devices are hardened against threats.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide 3rd line technical support for device-related issues, resolving complex problems and escalating when necessary to minimise downtime.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with IT stakeholders, vendors, and end-users to ensure seamless integration of EUC services and to provide expert advice on best practices.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve EUC processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.

Person specification
To be eligible to apply, you need to be able to demonstrate proven, hands-on experience in
- Managing and supporting Windows 11 devices in a large enterprise environment.
- Technical capability in Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) at a level equivalent to Microsoft Endpoint Administrator (MD‑102).
- Configuring and supporting Microsoft Intune and Autopilot, including device enrolment, policy deployment and application packaging.
- Resolving technical incidents, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and service restoration.
- PowerShell scripting to automate tasks, support deployments, and resolve operational challenges.
- Handling complex technical incidents, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and delivering sustainable fixes.
- Understanding of modern endpoint management principles, including security baselines and cloud-based device management.

The Crown Prosecution Service has fixed rates for its Higher Executive Officer grade – a developing rate (the starting salary) and a spot rate (the maximum salary). Applicants typically join us on the developing rate and, after completing a 18-month development period, move to the spot rate – this is subject to your line manager confirming that you’re performing the role to a satisfactory standard.

The panel has the right to assess the lead behaviour ‘Changing and Improving’ first. Clearance
If successful, you are required to securea Security Check clearance, for which you must have a current valid UK address.
If successfully appointed, we ask you to complete a character enquiry form, nationality and immigration questionnaire, and national security vetting form.

Reserve list
If you're recommended by the selection panel but not appointed to the current vacancy, you’re put on a reserve list for 12 months. You may be offered another End User Compute Engineer post in the CPS if a vacancy comes up during this period. We may also approach candidates on the waiting list to fill other roles that require similar knowledge and experience.
