An exciting internal opportunity has arisen for an End User Services Engineer to join DHU Healthcare’s Digital team, providing visible, hands-on IT support to colleagues across our sites.
This role would suit a DHU colleague with experience in IT support, desktop support, field engineering or end-user services who enjoys solving problems, supporting people and taking ownership of technical issues through to resolution.
At DHU, reliable and secure Digital services are essential to helping colleagues deliver safe and effective care. In this role, you will be a key face-to-face representative of Digital, providing calm, helpful and professional support to colleagues when they need it most.
You will provide second-line, desktop and field support across DHU sites, supporting laptops, PCs, Microsoft 365, printers, peripherals, telephony, audio-visual equipment, connectivity and access. This is primarily an on-site role, with limited hybrid working only where site coverage, workload and line-management approval allow.
As End User Services Engineer, you will:
- Provide second-line, desktop and field support across DHU sites
- Resolve faults affecting laptops, desktop PCs, operating systems, user profiles, drivers, approved software and device performance
- Build, configure, deploy, rebuild, replace and recover devices using approved tools and standards
- Support Microsoft 365, browsers, remote access, wired and wireless connectivity, docks, monitors, headsets and workplace peripherals
- Install, configure and troubleshoot printers, multifunction devices and scanning services
- Support meeting-room and audio-visual technology, including Microsoft Teams-enabled facilities
- Support mobile devices, fixed and mobile telephony, handsets and softphones
- Manage device moves, refreshes, joiner/mover/leaver tasks, stock, spares, loans and asset records
- Maintain accurate ServiceNow ticket notes, user updates, diagnostics and closure evidence
- Follow ITIL-aligned incident, request, knowledge, asset and problem-management processes
- Work with suppliers where needed, while retaining ownership through to outcome
- Create and maintain user guidance and knowledge information
We are looking for someone who has:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an IT-related subject, or equivalent practical experience
- Good general education, including English and Maths, with evidence of continued professional development
- At least two years’ experience in second-line, desktop, field engineering or end-user support
- Experience supporting Windows laptops and PCs, Microsoft 365, printers, peripherals and connectivity
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- The ability to explain technical matters clearly to colleagues with different levels of knowledge
- Strong fault-finding, prioritisation and ownership skills
- The ability to work independently across sites and as part of a team
- A professional and calm approach under pressure
- The ability to travel regularly to DHU sites across the Midlands, with a valid driving licence and suitable transport subject to DHU policy
