This is an excellent opportunity to lead the Council’s Energy team, driving the development and delivery of key energy and sustainability initiatives across West Northamptonshire.

In this high-profile role, you’ll be the Council’s lead expert on energy provision and management shaping strategies, driving innovation, and delivering major programmes that make a real difference. From managing multi-million-pound utilities contracts to spearheading energy projects, EV infrastructure and leading invest to save initiatives, you’ll be at the forefront of change.

What will you be doing?

You will provide strategic leadership, ensuring services are delivered proactively and collaboratively on behalf of the Council and partner organisations, including Northamptonshire Children’s Trust. Working closely with stakeholders, you will oversee the delivery of the team’s strategic work programme, creating a high-performing environment that supports innovation, partnership working and the achievement of programme objectives.

A key aspect of the role will be monitoring, reviewing and developing strategies and associated action plans, ensuring they remain effective, relevant and aligned with the Council’s priorities. You will be responsible for tracking progress against delivery targets and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

The post will also play a leading role in the development of West Northamptonshire’s electric vehicle infrastructure. This includes establishing and managing a dedicated EV Infrastructure team, shaping and delivering the Council’s EV charging strategy, securing external grant funding, and overseeing the procurement and management of EV charging operators. Through this work, you will help drive the transition to a greener, more sustainable transport network across the area.
