Your Role
Are you motivated by making a measurable difference reducing energy costs, improving contract performance and helping Stockport Council get the best value from its energy and utility arrangements?
Stockport Council is looking for an experienced and ambitious Energy Manager to lead the management of energy and utility consumption across our diverse property estate. This is a newly refreshed role with a strategic focus on helping the Council deliver its climate commitments, reduce carbon emissions and maximise value from energy expenditure.
You will be responsible for overseeing utility contracts, monitoring energy performance, analysing consumption data and identifying opportunities to reduce costs and carbon. Working across the organisation, you will provide expert advice, develop energy efficiency initiatives and support the delivery of the Council's commitment to achieving net zero in its own operations by 2039 and contributing towards a carbon neutral Stockport by 2038.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and technically capable professional with experience in energy management, utilities, building services or a related discipline.
You will bring:
- Experience of energy management, utility procurement and contract management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex energy and consumption data.
- Knowledge of carbon reduction, sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Experience of managing supplier relationships and challenging performance where required.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence colleagues, suppliers and partners.
- A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience in engineering, energy management, sustainability or building services.
- Most importantly, you will share our values, be committed to continual improvement and be motivated by the opportunity to make a measurable difference to the Council's environmental and financial performance
