About the role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Supervisor to lead the day-to-day delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across our operational property portfolio. Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, you will supervise a team of multi-skilled operatives delivering mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fabric maintenance services, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will play a key role in maintaining building performance, preserving assets, supporting statutory compliance and ensuring excellent service delivery across a diverse estate.
The role involves overseeing planned preventative maintenance programmes, coordinating reactive repairs, monitoring quality standards, supporting fault diagnosis, managing contractor activities and maintaining accurate records through CAFM systems. You will also contribute to service improvements, support the mobilisation of new buildings, assist with procurement and stock control, and provide leadership, guidance and development opportunities to your team, including apprentices
About the team
Our Engineering and Maintenance team plays a vital role in ensuring council buildings remain safe, compliant and operational for staff, residents and service users. Working across a varied property portfolio, the team delivers high-quality maintenance services and responds quickly to operational needs, helping to maintain essential public services and facilities.
As Engineering Supervisor, you will work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, property professionals, operational teams, contractors and suppliers to ensure effective service delivery. You’ll join a collaborative environment that values professionalism, customer service, continuous improvement and the development of technical expertise across the workforce.
About you
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive maintenance professional with proven experience supervising building maintenance teams within a multi-site environment. You will bring strong technical expertise across building services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire safety systems, together with a thorough understanding of statutory compliance requirements and safe systems of work
- Proven experience supervising building maintenance teams in a multi-site environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of building services systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire safety.
- Sound understanding of statutory compliance requirements and health and safety legislation.
- Experience using scheduling software and CAFM systems.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Relevant technical qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent in a building services discipline.
- Experience producing reports and communicating technical information effectively.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrable commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- A full, clean UK/EU driving licence.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to deliver work to agreed service standards and deadlines.
