About the Role

Are you an experienced engineering professional with strong leadership skills?

We are looking for an Engineering Works Supervisor to join our Engineering Maintenance team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving the Council’s engineering infrastructure, including flood defences, pumping stations, watercourses, coastal defences, car parks, and highway assets.


What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise the engineering maintenance team to deliver responsive and planned works.
• Coordinate resources to meet financial and quality targets.
• Manage budgets, timesheets, job sheets, and procurement of materials.
• Carry out surveys, prepare schedules of works, and oversee contractors.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintain audit trails.
• Undertake inspections and minor works to keep assets safe.
• Drive Council vehicles responsibly and maintain equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and support the Council’s Climate Change Strategy.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:
• LGV Driving Licence (Category C), Mini Digger Licence, and valid Driver CPC.
• Experience in civil engineering, groundworks, or trade-based tasks.
• Ability to lead a team and coordinate maintenance works.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety.
• Physically capable of manual work and flexible in working arrangements.

Desirable:
• Supervisor qualification, relevant trade qualification, JCB 3CX Licence, Hiab/Lorry Loader Licence, IOSH Working Safely.
• Experience of leading and supervising a team.
