Tower Hamlets Council is recruiting two Environmental Health Apprentices to join our dynamic our Regulatory Service.

The role:

Tower Hamlets is pleased to offer a role as an Environmental Health Apprentice in our Regulatory Service Department. You will be working in a diverse community with a range of challenges and rewards. Start building your future with an apprenticeship; this is your chance to receive excellent training and personal development from Environmental Health Officers and the Regulatory Services Department. Our Apprenticeship scheme provides a perfect way to earn a wage while you gain vital work experience and a nationally recognised qualification. You will be fully supported and mentored through your apprenticeship and be given protected time to attend training and complete your course work. The scheme is designed for people who are living and entitled to work in England and are not in full-time education.

As an apprentice, you will:

• Join the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and work as part of a national workforce that strives to help people, communities and businesses to maximise their potential to protect public health and wellbeing.
• Work within all teams assisting officers within Health & Housing, Food Safety, Environmental Protection (noise and pollution) and Health & Safety & Licensing team.
• Learn the skills necessary to develop the core competencies to become a qualified Environmental Health Officer from experts in the field, both in theory and practice.
• Combine traditional academic learning with work-based learning through employment in Environmental Health role.
• Complete professional portfolio and interview to become an Environmental Health Practitioner via the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), with the opportunity to work here at Tower Hamlets as an fully qualified officer.

Requirements:

• Resident of Tower Hamlets
• Entitled to work in England
• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above plus three additional GCSEs including a science subject
• Two A Levels with a minimum of 96 UCAS tariff points to include at leastone A level in a science or technology subject, drawn from Chemistry, Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Nutrition, Food Science or similar or equivalent relevant experience in a local authority service
