Estates Services Support Team Operative – Helping Keep Our Communities Clean, Safe and Welcoming

Are you passionate about delivering high standards, take pride in your work, and enjoy making a visible difference to local communities? As an Estates Services Support Team Operative, you'll play a key role in supporting our frontline caretaking teams to ensure Peabody estates and communal areas remain clean, safe, well maintained and welcoming for residents.

Working across a designated patch, you'll undertake specialist cleaning tasks, support estate improvement initiatives, assist with bulk refuse and fly-tip removal, carry out non-skilled emergency lighting and fire alarm testing, and help maintain the high standards our residents expect. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same and where your contribution has a direct impact on customer satisfaction and neighbourhood quality.

What you'll do

  • Keep Peabody estates, blocks and communal areas clean, tidy and free from litter and graffiti
  • Support caretaking and gardening teams with bulk refuse removal and disposal
  • Carry out specialist cleaning activities including hard floor care, window cleaning, chute cleaning and prestige cleans
  • Assist with estate improvement programmes and identify solutions to recurring environmental issues
  • Conduct non-skilled emergency lighting and fire alarm testing to help meet statutory obligations
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, powered tools and specialist machinery safely
  • Report communal repairs, vandalism, graffiti, tree maintenance requirements and health and safety concerns
  • Complete work records accurately and maintain equipment, refuse systems and allocated vehicles
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover for colleagues across the service
  • Support the delivery of a responsive, customer-focused estates service that meets Peabody's high standards.

What you'll need

  • A commitment to delivering excellent estate cleanliness standards
  • Good customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, customers and colleagues
  • The ability to work independently and manage your workload with minimal supervision
  • A proactive, flexible and team-focused approach
  • Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • A basic understanding of health and safety requirements within an estates environment
  • A full and valid UK driving licence
  • A willingness to undertake relevant training, including industry-recognised cleaning qualifications where required.

What success looks like

  • Delivering high levels of customer satisfaction across your estates
  • Achieving and maintaining Peabody's gold standard estate inspection scores
  • Contributing to clean, safe and well-maintained neighbourhoods that residents are proud to call home.
