British Transport Police (BTP) is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain. We are the ‘Guardians of the Railway,’ putting passenger safety at the heart of what we do. Our values are simply: We Care, We Do the Right Thing, We Strive to Be Better Every Day, We Are One BTP, and We Are Proud to Protect. Join us and help create an environment where we can all be our best every day.

The Opportunity:

British Transport Police have an opportunity for a Workspace Manager to join the Estates Department.

As a Workspace Manager with BTP, you will take the lead in shaping and optimising workplace environments across the Force, ensuring they are efficient, flexible and fit for purpose.

You will drive the effective use of space through data‑led planning and insight, ensuring workplaces are aligned to operational needs while maintaining strong governance, compliance and audit readiness across key systems.

You’ll play a central role in delivering modern, inclusive and ergonomic workspaces, managing furniture and asset lifecycles, and coordinating workspace moves and changes in a way that minimises disruption and maximises impact.

Acting as an intelligent client, you will work closely with Project Managers, Technology, Health & Safety, Security and suppliers to turn operational requirements into clear, deliverable plans—helping create safe, compliant and cost‑effective environments that support how our people work.

This is a fantastic opportunity to influence how BTP uses its estate, providing data‑driven insight and reporting to support decision‑making and ensure our workplaces continue to evolve in line with organisational demand.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing workspace utilisation and planning across the estate, using spatial data and audits to drive efficiency, optimise capacity and support operational needs
  • Leading the management and accuracy of spatial data (including CAD and CAFM), ensuring data integrity, governance, audit readiness and effective reporting
  • Overseeing furniture and equipment standards, including lifecycle management, asset tracking and delivery of ergonomic and inclusive workplace solutions
  • Acting as the Estates lead for workspace changes, building strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to deliver effective, user-focused environments
  • Contributing to business cases and performance reporting, using data to track KPIs such as occupancy and utilisation and support informed decision‑making
  • Supporting projects and operational delivery, coordinating workspace moves, refurbishments and business continuity activity while driving continuous improvement and innovation

What you'll bring to the team:

Qualifications & Training

  • Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Workplace/Facilities Management, Space Planning, Architecture, Design or Information Systems

Experience

  • Experience in workspace planning, move management and furniture lifecycle delivery within a complex, multi‑site environment
  • Experience overseeing CAD/information workflows, estates data reporting and audit/compliance processes
  • Proven ability to design and implement audit frameworks and support governance requirements

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to plan and deliver to deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with clear written and verbal communication
  • Competent in using AutoCAD (oversight), CAFM systems, Excel and data visualisation tools

Knowledge

  • Understanding of workplace regulations and standards (H&S, fire safety, accessibility)
  • Awareness of estates governance frameworks, RIBA stages and strategic planning principles
  • Knowledge of information governance and secure handling of estates data

BTP is a national Force and the role will require travel as needed.
