Event Support Assistant (Casual)
Do you want to be a part of supporting the delivery of a range of events delivered across the Wakefield District?
Wakefield Council’s events programme features a diverse mix of large-scale festivals and community events throughout the year. From launching the national food festival season with the Rhubarb Festival, to celebrating local heritage at the Castleford Roman Festival and hosting the vibrant Pontefract Liquorice Festival, the programme varies in both scale and style. Roles are equally varied and tailored to meet the specific requirements of each event.
We are on the lookout for a highly motivated and flexible individual with experience of working in a customer facing environment, to work as part of a wider team to support in the safe delivery of events. From set up to set down, meeting the needs of a diverse range of audiences.
The overall purpose of the Event Support Assistant is to:
- Assist with the set up and set down of equipment at events
- Be the face of the service; provide accurate and clear event information to visitors in a friendly and approachable manner
- Monitor and maintain event resources and activities
- Contribute to overall health and safety of each event
The Event Support Assistant will be friendly and approachable, providing visitors with clear and accurate information to ensure their experience is highly enjoyable.
You will communicate with artists, hirers, and performers on practical aspects of the event / activities as required and will work well as part of a team, and equally as an individual using your own initiative.
Wakefield Council’s events programme experiences seasonal peaks, with the busiest periods typically in summer (June–July) and winter (November). During these times, there is increased availability of shifts. Some roles may require early starts or late finishes depending on event needs, and weekend working is likely. Events can take place across the district with emphasis on Wakefield, Castleford and Pontefract.
Hours will be as and when required.

Salary range
- £13.47 - £13.69 per hour
