The role is varied and fast‑paced, with plenty of responsibility. You’ll also be closely involved in our Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) work, helping senior leaders stay prepared and informed throughout this major transition and support the LGR programme
There are two positions available, with both supporting the LGR work programme. One role will be allocated to provide full administrative support to the Executive Director.
The other role will be allocated to provide full administrative support to both the S151 Officer and Executive Head of Governance and Law and Monitoring Officer. The successful candidates will report to the Senior Executive Assistant and work within the Executive Office, providing cover and support where necessary.
In this role, you will:
• Manage diaries, correspondence, prepare for meetings and produce clear, accurate documents for the relevant SLT members
Coordinate meetings across the organisation and with external partners, including agendas, minutes and follow‑up actions
• Act as a reliable point of contact for senior officers, Members and partners, maintaining professional communication at all times
• Support the LGR programme by preparing briefings, tracking timelines and gathering information for key decisions. • Handle sensitive issues and information with confidentiality, discretion and good judgement
• Support wider corporate responsibilities such as elections, civic events and other priority work
• Help improve processes within the Executive Office so the work flows more smoothly and consistently
Our ideal applicant will have:
• Graduate‑level qualification or equivalent experience
• Strong administrative experience and confident use of Microsoft Office
• Experience supporting senior leaders or working in a similar environment
• Highly organised, able to manage competing deadlines and work independently
• Clear, accurate written and verbal communication skills
• The judgement, professionalism and discretion to handle sensitive information confidently
• A calm, proactive approach, with the ability to stay focused under pressure and solve problems effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build positive working relationships across the organisation and with external partners
