Job summary

The Ethics and Integrity Commission (EIC), established on 13th October 2025, promotes the highest standards in public life and reports to the Prime Minister on matters concerning ethical standards.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new organisation at the heart of the standards landscape. The successful applicant may also be asked to work on areas beyond the responsibilities described below according to the team’s needs and the Commission’s priorities.

Purpose

The Corporate Support Team (CST) ensures the EIC’s operational excellence by overseeing its core governance and administrative frameworks. From long-term strategic planning to day-to-day resilience, the team maintains the essential systems, processes, and contracts that keep the Commission functional. Additionally, the CST provides dedicated support for the Chair and Commission members, managing high-level scheduling, meeting logistics, and Commission papers.

The Executive Support Manager role sits within the CST and is responsible for delivering high calibre executive support to the Chair, Commission Members and the Chief Executive. The post holder will also support delivery of the full Commission governance cycle, from forward scheduling and paper coordination to meeting delivery and action tracking. It is a pivotal role at the centre of EIC, combining executive judgement, governance discipline and relationship management in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

Executive Support

  • Diary Management: Under the direction of the Chief of Staff and/or the Head of Corporate Support, manage the diaries of the Chair and CEO, prioritizing appointments to align with strategic objectives.
  • Logistics: Coordinate meeting logistics for the Chair and CEO, including travel arrangements and technical set-up.
  • Business Support: Provide administrative support to the Chair, Commission Members and CEO.

Commission Secretariat

  • Papers Coordination: Under the direction of the Chief of Staff and/or the Head of Corporate Support, coordinate the production and delivery of papers for the monthly Commission meetings, including forward planning deadlines, tracking paper progress, and ensuring all materials are distributed to Members on schedule.
  • Meeting Secretariat: Act as Secretary for Commission meetings, ensuring the production of accurate records of decisions and maintaining a robust system for tracking actions and accountability.
  • Information Management: Ensure governance documentation and records are version-controlled and stored in compliance with record-keeping standards.

Correspondence

  • Communications Triage: Manage the Chair’s inbox and the public-facing inbox, triaging correspondence and drafting high-quality responses on behalf of the Chair and Commission.
  • Statutory Compliance (FOI): Lead the Freedom of Information (FOI) process. Log, track, and draft accurate, compliant responses within statutory deadlines and maintain a comprehensive FOI register.

Project Coordination

  • Special Projects & Monitoring: Support the CEO and Chief of Staff on ad-hoc strategic projects and briefing, monitoring timelines and deliverables to ensure all project milestones are met.

Person specification

  • Senior Executive Support: Proven background in providing high-level administrative support to a Chair, CEO, or Board, including complex diary management.

  • Committee Secretariat: Proficient in managing the full lifecycle of Board or Commission papers, including senior-level minute-taking and formal record-keeping.

  • Workflow Coordination: A track record of monitoring project timelines and deliverables, ensuring multiple contributors meet strict deadlines for senior meetings.

  • Information Governance: Skilled in managing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and maintaining auditable document registers or record-keeping systems.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experienced as a primary point of contact for diverse external stakeholders, with the ability to triage and manage complex public correspondence.

  • Written Communication: Strong drafting skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate content for a variety of audiences.

  • Discretion & Integrity: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with absolute professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy, particularly regarding version control, document management, and tracking actions to completion.

  • Technical Proficiency: Good IT skills, ideally within Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive)

Additional information:

Cabinet Office policy is that a minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. For some roles, due to their nature and the business need, this may be up to 100%. Requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.

Selection process

Candidates who are successful at the initial sift will be invited to an in-person interview, where they will be asked to complete a short test to assess their diary and inbox management skills before being interviewed by a panel. The test will be assessed against your technical skills. The panel interview will include strength-based questions followed by questions testing the Civil Service behaviours.
