Adur & Worthing Facilities team is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Council's three principal administrative buildings and we are seeking to recruit an adaptable and physically fit individual to join our team. The Facilities team are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Council's administrative buildings including the health and safety and security of the buildings as well as staff and visitors.

In this role, you will principally be based at The Shoreham Centre but will also be required to work at the Councils offices in Worthing on a regular basis. In order to ensure that the Council’s premises are staffed at all times, throughout our operating hours, the Facilities team operates a shift pattern throughout the working day (Monday – Friday, please see Job Description/Person Specification for further details). Occasional out of hours and weekend working will be required for which overtime at the applicable rate is payable.

In this role, you will undertake a wide range of duties including portering, reception duties, distribution of mail and items between buildings, civic events and relocation of furniture and other items.

Summary of duties:

  • Responsible for unlocking and locking of council buildings.
  • Undertaking the distribution of mail and other items including equipment within and between the council’s premises.
  • Relocation of furniture and equipment within and between the council’s premises.
  • Preparation of rooms in advance of meetings.
  • Staffing the main reception areas in the council’s administrative offices.
  • Assisting members of the public with general enquiries.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the council’s premises.
  • Responding out of hours to alarm activations at the council’s premises.

You will need to hold a valid, clean driving license for this role.
