About the role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Facilities Officer – Access Control, CCTV and Structured Cabling to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Crawley.
Working exclusively across council premises within the town, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery and maintenance of electronic security systems as part of the wider facilities function.
Your responsibilities will include the installation, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding of access control, CCTV and intruder alarm systems, ensuring all works are completed to industry standards and site requirements.
You will also be responsible for structured cabling and data network cabling associated with security systems, including installation, termination, testing and fault diagnosis. The role involves installing containment systems such as trunking and conduit to a high professional standard, maintaining neat, compliant and well-documented installations throughout.
In addition to your core technical duties, you will contribute to maintaining safe, secure and fully operational council facilities, delivering excellent service to internal stakeholders and site representatives.
Experience with Gallagher Access Control, Hikvision CCTV and Texecom Intruder Alarms would be advantageous; however, training can be provided for engineers with experience in comparable systems.
We are looking for a proactive, team-focused individual who is committed to continuous professional development, knowledge-sharing and supporting colleagues within a collaborative facilities environment.
The role will include:
• undertaking minor installations, repairs and maintenance of the facilities, equipment, and smart systems
• health and safety checks and ensuring compliance
• planning, organising, and implementing work
• opening and closing facilities for contractors
The successful candidate must be able to undertake the physical requirements of the role.
Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station.
We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.
Additional information
Fixed term contract for twelve months.
The role requires you to work a flexible rota including early shifts, late shifts, and occasional weekends and bank holidays. The standard working week is an average of 37 hours. You will be required to undertake out of hours call outs as part of a rota.
Candidates must demonstrate strong hands-on experience in structured cabling termination and network infrastructure installation; this is an essential requirement for the role.
Proven experience in the installation of containment systems (trunking, conduit and cable management) is essential.
Demonstrable knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work, ensuring full compliance while carrying out installation and maintenance activities.
A full and current UK driving licence is an essential requirement of the role.
You will be required to wear a uniform, which is provided.
You will be required to undertake a First Aid at Work qualification, for which a first aid allowance will be paid once you are assessed as ready.
