About the Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Family Group Conference Team. FGC is a restorative intervention, which recognises that every family is unique and so by using FGCs we work with them to create and achieve a family plan. FGCs use a family's own skills, strengths, and personal knowledge to resolve difficulties, using their own expertise and ensuring their involvement in the process can help to redress the power imbalances that are experienced by children/young people and their families. FGC aims to reduce the need for statutory intervention, improve better outcomes and ensure all children and young people can thrive.

About the role

The role of an independent Family Group Conference Co-ordinator is to support families to come together to make their own plan. You will work in partnership with families to build on their strengths and find solutions to the difficulties they are facing to help improve family life and increase opportunities for their children. The Co-ordinator is responsible for the negotiation, mediation and facilitation of the Family Group Conference process. They are expected to work in a solution-focused, partnership way helping families to shape the direction and content of planning for children in a wide range of circumstances.

About You

You will be an experienced practitioner with children and families who passionately believes in family’s ability to find their own solutions. Curiosity about childrens extended networks and the meaningful contribution they can make to planning and positive change will be one of your attributes. Successful Co-ordinators are assertive and highly organised in order to work with multiple, often complex families and their networks to bring them together for FGC’s. Great interpersonal skills will support you to work with a wide range of professionals, family and children, including the group work involved in facilitating positive FGCs.

If you are passionate about working as part of a team and in a service, that works in partnership to make a difference to children and families we would love to hear from you!
