Job Vacancy: Family Support Worker (1 day per week, term time only) Weaverham Forest Primary School and Nursery is seeking to appoint a skilled and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team for 1 day per week. This role is central to our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, supporting families to access early help, and removing barriers to learning. Main responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering early intervention and targeted support for children and families, in line with the school’s safeguarding and attendance policies.
  • Coordinate multi-agency support and attend/chair multi-agency meeting e.g. Team around the Family (TAF)
  • Working collaboratively with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, senior leaders and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Supporting families to access appropriate services, including health, social care and community organisations.
  • Contributing to the monitoring and improvement of pupil attendance, punctuality and engagement.
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential and timely records in accordance with statutory guidance and school policy.
The successful candidate will:
  • Have experience of working with children, families and multi-agency partners in a safeguarding or support capacity.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
  • Be able to identify needs early and implement effective support strategies.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and resilience in families.
  • Be able to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Hours: 1 day per week, term time only.
Contract: Fixed-term / part-time (with potential to extend).
