Children’s Services: Family Support Worker – Referral & Assessment Team

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Family Support Worker to join Wokingham Children’s Services, helping families receive the right help at the right time.

The Family Support Worker will work alongside Social Workers and will include administrative support and direct work with children and their families.

The Role

  • To work with children and their families, offering advice, support, signposting and direct intervention, as required
  • The children’s lead professional will be a Social Worker, who will provide you with guidance, support and advice
  • Children and families needs will span a wide range of issues including poverty, family conflict, substance or alcohol misuse, mental ill health and/or disability, neglect and helping families focus on the needs of the children
  • Working closely with other agencies and local services, you will be on the frontline improving outcomes for children aged 0-18
  • You will hear and promote the voice of the child
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of Wokingham children
  • To provide a wide range of case related support to the team of Social Workers
  • Be an integral member of the team supporting and demonstrating collaborative ways of working

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in either a paid or voluntary capacity working directly with children and families in a formal setting, to include support around crisis interventions. You will be able to demonstrate confidence and resilience with a flexible approach.
