Job summary

The Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) is an independent tribunal with statutory powers chaired by Stephen Redmond. Under the Employment Relations Act 1999, it has been given statutory responsibility to adjudicate disputes over trade union recognition. It has powers in relation to the Information and Consultation Regulations, certain European statutes and it determines claims from trade unions on the disclosure of information for collective bargaining purposes.

We are seeking a proactive and organised Finance and Admin Support Officer to join the CAC. This role is key to supporting the Finance and Admin Supervisor and wider team, ensuring the smooth delivery of financial, administrative, and operational services.

You will play an integral part in maintaining efficient systems and processes, supporting casework, and providing high-quality administrative assistance to senior stakeholders.

Job description

The post holder will be primarily responsible for:

  • Supporting the Finance and Admin Supervisor by processing financial transactions promptly and accurately, maintaining finance systems, and ensuring compliance with Acas’ policies and internal directives.
  • Contributing to the effective day-to-day running of the administrative function by completing tasks to a high standard, meeting deadlines, and supporting colleagues across the team.
  • Providing administrative support to Case Managers and assist with the progression and management of cases across all CAC statutory responsibilities.
  • Delivering administrative support to the CAC Chair, CAC Members, and Chief Executive Officer, while also assisting senior leadership with maintaining the Knowledge Bank and contributing to improvement initiatives, including IT modernisation.
  • Supporting the management of CAC IT systems by maintaining and updating the website and database, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and up to date.
  • Assisting with the production of the CAC Annual Report by gathering information, preparing draft content, and supporting delivery within agreed timescales.



Person specification

Essential criteria:

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Experienced in administrative and/or finance support roles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Confidence working with various IT systems, e.g. Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint etc.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Confident taking initiative and working independently
  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or the new grade 4 (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics

Please note that there is a business requirement for this role that the postholder is able to work at least 25 hours per week.

Interview Details

If you have successfully passed sift at the application stage, you will be invited to an interview which will take place via Microsoft Teams, and which will take place from the week commencing 25 June 2026.

It will be a Behaviours and Strengths based interview.
