Home Office Digital (HOD) designs, builds and develops services for the rest of the department and for government. Every year our systems support up to 3 million visa applications, checks on 100 million border crossings, up to 8 million passport applications and deliver 140 million police checks on people, vehicles and property.

This role offers the chance to become a key part of Mazetime’s operations, supporting users, improving systems, and driving compliance. Job description

Within HOD, the Data Services and Analytics (DSA) team find innovative uses for Home Office data and contains one of the most advanced data analytics centres in Government. We strive to lead the way in appropriate and proportionate use of data and analytics to deliver joined-up, intelligent services that unlock the value from data and improve decision making, policy and operations.

Data Services and Analytics consist of technical and non-technical professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds, we are the hub of data expertise within the department. We support our teams with structured learning, both formal and on-the-job, mentoring and feedback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage user and team lifecycle activities, including onboarding/offboarding, access configuration, guidance, and training.
  • Set up and maintain Mazetime projects and users, ensuring accurate data, regular reviews, and chasing missing information.
  • Act as first-line support via the DSA Mazetime inbox, providing 1st/2nd line support and escalating incidents when required.
  • Produce reporting across business areas, including tailored reports, status updates, and follow‑ups to drive compliance.
  • Engage with stakeholders and team leads to support analysis, improve adherence, and communicate DSA‑wide system updates.
  • Maintain system resources such as FAQs and guidance materials, and support the Project Team with ad hoc fixes, reconfigurations, and user notifications.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end financial processes by raising RTPs, managing invoices, handling supplier queries, and collaborating with Product Managers on timely updates, while supporting ad‑hoc finance tasks to ensure continuity, accuracy, and efficiency across DSA’s financial systems.

The successful candidate will need to be adaptable and willing to work flexibly across the wider team as required, performing additional duties reasonably expected within the scope of the grade.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required to other work locations within the UK according to business needs and may include overnight stays. All related costs will be reimbursed in line with Home Office policy.

Working Pattern

Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours is available.

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to organise and manage time effectively, prioritising work while delivering across teams.
  • Confidence working with large datasets and explaining monitoring or finance issues to non‑specialist colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a finance environment.
  • Flexibility to support delivery at different stages of a programme lifecycle.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and data handling.
  • Ability to liaise sensitively and professionally, building effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently within guidelines, knowing when to escalate issues, with high attention to detail.

Selection process details

We will endeavour to conduct the selection process in line with the dates indicated below, but cannot guarantee that these will not, where necessary, be revised.

As part of the application process, you will first be asked to confirm your eligibility by providing some basic personal information.

After submission of this first stage, you will be invited to complete the following Civil Service Numerical Test and the Civil Service Verbal Test.

1. Online Test – by 2nd March 2026

If you successfully pass the Civil Service Numerical Test and the Civil Service Verbal Test, you will be invited to complete the full application form. Please complete the online tests as soon as possible (within 24-48 hours is recommended). If you fail to complete the online tests or full application before the deadline, your application will be withdrawn.

Guidance for the Civil Service tests will be available when you are invited to take the tests. The online tests are accessed via the Civil Service Jobs website.

You cannot complete the tests on a mobile phone or tablet.

Our online test supplier will be performing scheduled maintenance between 16:00 and Midnight on 1st March 2026. You will be unable to access tests during this period.

If you are in the middle of a test when the maintenance begins, your progress will be paused. You will be able to resume your test from where you left off via your application centre once the downtime has ended. Please note that you will not be able to launch any new tests while the system is offline.

Following successful completion of your tests, you will then be asked to complete the full application form.

2. Application – by 2nd March 2026

As part of the application process, you will be asked to complete:

  • CV
  • Personal Statement (maximum 1000 words).

Your CV should consist of your career history and skills/experience, including any key achievements in each role. Your CV will be scored against the experience required for the role as noted within the essential criteria.

The Personal Statement should be aligned to and demonstrate how you meet the skills and experience set out in the essential criteria, detailed in the job description.

3. Sift – commencing 4th March 2026

The sift will be held on the Personal Statement and the CV.

Should a high volume of applications be received, an initial sift will be conducted on the Personal Statement. Candidates who pass the initial sift will then be progressed to a full sift that will consist of all the remaining elements submitted (CV).Candidates who fail to meet the minimum pass score for the initial sift will not have their remaining submitted elements scored and will only receive a sift score for that assessed at the initial sift.

4. Interview – week commencing 23rd March 2026

If you are successful at sift stage, you will be invited to an interview that will be Behaviours (as listed in the job advert).

The interview will take place on MS Teams.
