Starting Salary: £27,694 progressing to £31,022 per annum (pro rata for part time)
Hours: 37.0
Location: Stevenage - Farnham House, hybrid working.
2 Days in the office 3 days at home or as and when required

About the team
Central Debt Team deal with the recovery of outstanding care fees for clients who have sadly passed away in the Adult Care Services.
You will be part of our friendly, communicative, successful, and efficient team. We have an open and honest approach with a drive to deliver results for the service whilst providing good customer care in a timely and professional manner.
Central Debt Team provides support to bereaved family members during a difficult time. Whilst recovering the debt we need to be sensitive; kind, caring and have a good listening ear.
You will be committed to delivering a high-quality service in a demanding role.
You will need to be fully up to date with all IT skills required or will have the proven ability to learn them very quickly.
You will have excellent communication skills demonstrating the ability to communicate either verbally, on the telephone or in writing by email or letter. You will need to be assertive as well as sympathetic, empathetic, and good at listening as this role also requires the ability to be able to deal with difficult telephone conversations.
About the role
The role is very varied and incorporates the following:
- Investigating clients’ accounts
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (verbally and in writing)
- Resolving queries
- Recovering outstanding monies
- Managing caseload of clients who Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) have provided care for.
- Making sure payment is forthcoming, as well as credits.
- Reviewing and monitoring caseloads making sure you are dealing with clients in a timely manner.
- Running reports for your weekly caseload.
- Running payment reports and updating your spreadsheets
- Liaising with different stakeholders to get the results required.
About you
Essential:
- Experience of working in a financial team
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written with the ability to establish strong relationships.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Working as part of a team and individually
- Ability to influence and negotiate.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Competent with using Microsoft applications such as excel, word and Outlook
- Accurate and timely record keeping
- Good time and diary management skills
- Good interpersonal skills are a must as we encourage you to challenge and contribute to the identification for service improvement and increased efficiency.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of SAP, and other systems
- Finance experience
Central Debt Team is a great team to work within. It is really busy and can be challenging due to difficult conversations, but every day is different, and it is a really rewarding role. Each case is different, and you learn something new every day. We want someone that shares our passion for supporting bereaved families to which we believe is a difficult time.This is an interesting role, which constantly evolves, and you will have the opportunity to develop and progress.
