We’re excited to welcome apprentices into our Finance service, working specifically within the Transactional Accounting Team — the team responsible for key financial processes across Derbyshire County Council. This is a fantastic starting point if you’re finishing school, college or university and want to build real, practical experience in finance while earning a wage, however, you can be an apprentice at any age.

You don’t need lots of experience — just enthusiasm, accuracy, and a willingness to learn. We’ll teach you everything you need to know.

🌟 What you’ll be doing in the Transactional Accounting Team
The Transactional Accounting Team handles day‑to‑day financial activity that keeps the council running smoothly — such as processing orders, invoices and payments, collating data for financial assessments in respect of care packages, maintaining financial records, supporting month‑end tasks, and helping ensure that financial information is accurate and up to date.

You’ll learn how financial systems work by using the Councils SAP finance system, develop attention to detail, build confidence with numbers and data, and gain experience in a professional office environment. These are highly transferable skills that can lead into careers in finance, accountancy, data administration, procurement, payroll, pensions and more.

  • You’ll earn a wage while gaining a respected Level 3 Business Administrator qualification
  • You’ll receive support from experienced finance professionals
  • You’ll develop real-world skills that employers value
  • You’ll be part of a friendly apprenticeship community
  • You’ll have clear career progression opportunities within the council

If you’re organised, motivated and ready to start building your future in finance, we’d love to hear from you!
