💼 Role Overview
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to support the Public Transport Team with essential financial administration. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and contributing to the smooth running of finance processes within our public transport team.
The role will be part of the Public Transport team, in the Place and Connectivity directorate. You will report into the Public Transport Communities Manager.
🔧 What you’ll be doing:
- Processing supplier invoices, purchase orders, and payments using corporate finance systems
- Maintaining accurate financial records and spreadsheets to support service delivery
- Investigating and resolving payment discrepancies with suppliers and internal teams
- Responding to finance-related queries from customers and stakeholders
- Supporting budget monitoring, audits, and the annual concessionary reimbursement process
- Assisting with general office duties and contributing to team-wide administrative support
What we're looking for
👀 We’re looking for someone with:
- Education to GCSE Grade 4 / C or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
- At least one year’s experience in finance or administrative roles
- Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- A methodical and organised approach to financial recordkeeping
- Confidence in handling financial data and resolving basic discrepancies
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- A willingness to learn and contribute to service improvements
