Job description
Financial Management & Partnering Directorate is responsible for financial consolidation, reporting and planning, together with supporting commercial and procurement exercises across DWP.
As a key member of the finance team, the role holder will provide leadership as well as evidence-based decision-making support, challenge and advice.
You will need to:
- Build and maintain key relationships, developing trust and managing the expectations of senior managers and stakeholders.
- Develop a good understanding of the business, seeking opportunities to understand project, commercial and operational drivers.
- Provide timely, accurate and clearly communicated financial management information and analysis to support decision making.
- Support and challenge the business to develop accurate and affordable multi-year financial forecasts and plans.
- Lead a business partner team to ensure effective support and advice to the business
- Engage with other finance teams to identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement.
Available Roles
We have a range of exciting opportunities available, each offering unique responsibilities and development prospects. A brief overview of these roles is outlined below. The business will determine which role successful candidates are allocated to.EstatesFinance Business Partner roles within DWP Estates support the People and Place Director General in managing a £1.2bn budget. These roles focus on ensuring effective financial control and optimisation across corporate and operational workplaces, premises, and support services, with each role aligned to specific projects within the overall budget.
Digital and Transformation Group
Financial Management and Partnering is organised into teams supporting each of the DWP Director Generals and their teams, with these roles sitting within the team partnering the Digital and Transformation Group (DTG). As a Financial Business Partner, you will lead strategic budgeting and Spending Review planning, developing robust financial plans aligned to organisational priorities and transformation goals. You will provide expert insight, challenge and scenario analysis to support senior decision-making, while coordinating end-to-end planning with central finance partners to ensure high-quality outputs. The roles play a key part in supporting DTG’s delivery of modern, user-centred digital services for millions of UK customers.
Hybrid working
This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.
If a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for the role and for you, you will normally be required to spend a minimum of 60% of your contracted working hours from your DWP office.

Working Pattern

Qualifications
You must hold a full chartered level professional qualification awarded by a UK-recognised accountancy body: CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland. Please note that membership of AAT or other technician level qualifications does not satisfy the qualification criteria for this role.
