Finance & Parking Systems Analyst
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is committed to delivering high‑quality, modern services that make a real difference to our community. We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Finance & Parking Systems Analyst to join our Finance and Parking team at an exciting time of digital development.
This is a key role at the heart of our services, ensuring our financial and parking systems function smoothly while using data insight to shape smarter, more user‑friendly ways of working. If you enjoy turning complex data into clear, meaningful information that helps others make good decisions, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.
The Role
In this varied and influential role, you’ll support Finance, Procurement and Parking Services by transforming data into actionable insight that informs decision‑making and service improvement across the Council.
You’ll work with data from a range of internal and external sources, carefully collecting, cleansing and combining datasets to support analysis — always ensuring high standards of accuracy, security and GDPR compliance.
A key part of your role will be designing and maintaining performance dashboards and reports that clearly present trends, risks and opportunities. You’ll help identify data anomalies, resolve discrepancies, and streamline processes through intelligent system integration.
Alongside analytical work, you’ll also play an important role in communicating insights to a wider audience. This will include presenting complex information clearly and confidently to Councillors, senior stakeholders and members of the public, so strong public speaking and presentation skills are essential.
You’ll also provide support for key financial and parking systems, including offering technical advice, delivering training, and explaining system information in a clear and accessible way, helping colleagues feel supported and informed in their day‑to‑day work.
About You
We’re looking for a highly analytical and organised individual who is comfortable working with large datasets and complex systems, and who takes pride in producing clear, reliable insights.
You’ll have experience using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Business Objects, Power BI or similar analytics platforms, and be confident translating data into information that others can easily understand and use. Experience of system integration, APIs and data transfer methods would be a strong advantage.
Just as important as your technical skills is your ability to communicate well. You’ll be someone who can explain technical concepts clearly, present information confidently, and build positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
You’ll be open, trustworthy and adaptable, with a genuine interest in improving services and supporting change. A proactive mindset and a desire to help the Council deliver its Digital First ambitions will be key to your success in this role.
A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline is required, with a background in finance, IT or data analysis being particularly beneficial.
