About the team

The Adult Care Services Income and Financial Assessments Team plays a vital role in ensuring that people receiving care services are financially assessed fairly, consistently, and in line with legislation.

The team is responsible for assessing clients’ contributions towards the cost of their care across a range of services, including community-based care, residential care, short breaks, and respite care. We work closely with individuals, families, and professionals to ensure processes are transparent, supportive, and compliant with the Care Act 2014.

About the role

As a Financial Assessment & Income Officer, you will be responsible for completing accurate and timely financial assessments to determine individuals’ contributions towards their care.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conducting financial assessments for community-based care, residential care, short breaks and respite services

- Gathering, reviewing, and verifying financial information

- Applying Care Act 2014 legislation

- Explaining charges clearly and empathetically

- Maximising benefit entitlement

- Managing a caseload and meeting deadlines

- Responding to queries via phone, email and written correspondence

- Working collaboratively with internal teams


About you

Essential:

- Customer service experience

- Strong communication skills

- Good numeracy skills

- Excellent organisational skills

- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

- Strong IT skills

- High attention to detail

Desirable:

- Experience in Adult Social Care or financial assessments

- Knowledge of Care Act 2014

- Understanding of welfare benefits
